Dear NESteam Friends and Partners!

As the year 2007 draws to a close, I am in awe of where God has brought us in just a few short months.  In November of 2006, our Zambian partners had many dreams, and together we were seeking God's guidance.  A piece of land, donated by Gracewell Mwansa, was available for the building of a new Life Skills training centre that we believed could open doors of ministry to 200,000 people in Mbala and Mpulungu districts of Zambia.  We knew land was only the first step!  Resources to develop the land became our prayer.  We rejoice that during this year we have seen God providing through His people, and a grant from the Beit Trust in London.  Praise God!

Physical landmarks are small when compared to the life changing ministries taking place through our partners.  Here are a few of them:
  • We rejoice in Kathrin Hitchcock and her ministries at Chengelo Secondary school.
  • Praise God for 7 ministry graduates from Mbala Christian Leadership Training Centre (MCLTC)
  • Praise God for over 100 orphaned vulnerable children involved in the Life Skills Carpentry, Tailoring and our small computer skills program!
  • Continued work on preparing for the Village Health program.
  • Distribution of the first Lungu-Mambwe testament in Mbala & Mpulungu districts!!
  • Building assistance to Malamba village and Chitamba village churches.
  • 25 orphans assisted through Tupuze Care Centre in Mbala.
  • Open doors through the community to begin ministries!
  • Assistance to graduates in ministries.
These are great reasons to rejoice!  I made three trips this year to coordinate construction, work with the board on planning for future ministry and assisting in negotiating with local communities for the needs of Mapalo development.
During December, I was in Zambia to review construction and confirm progress to the Beit Trust.  More importantly, the MCLTC board met at the new site for a 4 day Vision and Strategy retreat.  What a blessed time we had as we shared the past, witnessed God's hand on us all, and laid a course for the future.  I learned that the men and women on our staff and board have more vision than I do!  They sacrificially have set their mind and hearts on the task.
We do have many challenges ahead.  As I told the Board, a building is useless without ministry, and the means to complete those ministries.  Will you pray with us for the resources to meet these challenges in 2008?
  1. Pray for our staff and board as they determine the ministries at the new centre, and how they will be implemented.
  2. The need to send a container with supplies for ministry, and the resources to do so.
  3. Remember the communities of Mbala and Mpulungu.  Pray for doors of ministry as they open.
  4. Pray for Dr. Chipeta and Florence Mwale as they develop the Village health-worker program.
  5. Remember Tupuze and the outreach to orphans.  Pray for resources to increase ministry.
  6. Completion of the Centre at Mapalo during 2008!
  7. Pray for Kathrin Hitchcock as she continues her work at Chengelo.
There is much more that could be said, but, I just wanted to update you on where God has brought us, and the challenges of the days ahead!  Thank you for your prayers and support!  God is at work, and we are thankful we can be instruments of His love.  God bless you in the New Year!
